This Art School is owned and operated by Kerrie Bowles from Cowper Art Gallery and Studio

Please Note

At this point in time there is no Art School, in it’s previous format, planned for 2022.

We are currently looking at alternative ways of bringing you a new and revised school.

Please continue to check in here as this is where  announcements will be made first.

Hello and Welcome. My son James and I took ownership of the Art School in April this year. The Arts have always been a part of our lives. We both hold degrees in Visual Arts and I have been an art educator for many decades. We also own Cowper Art Gallery and Studio and run a year round program of changing exhibitions in the Gallery along with a yearly program of one day workshops and weekly classes in the Studio.
We're really looking forward to taking the Art School into the future and helping you explore your creativity.

Art School Workshops

Held in Grafton, NSW, Australia in April each year, the Art School workshops are a integral part of Grafton’s cultural life. Situated in the beautiful Clarence Valley in the NSW Northern Rivers region, we can’t wait to welcome you to enjoy our community spirit and the stunning environment of this wonderful part of the world.

The workshops will be daily, informal sessions with expert tuition, demonstrations, personal critiques, handy tips and explanations of new skills and techniques that will make the learning process much easier. Communication is high on the list of priorities of all our tutors.
During our Art School observation, imagination, curiosity, reflection, composition, tone, and style are explored as well as the joy of sharing conversations and experiences with your tutor and peers.
The Art School attracts beginner artists as well as those with more experience. Class sizes are small allowing each student to receive individual attention. Our tutors are masters in their field and are chosen for their ability to teach, share and communicate their skills to others who are keen to learn and extend their creative skills. All workshops run concurrently so this allows you to attend just one workshop for the five days. Workshops are held at Grafton High School in Mary Street, Grafton. Following enrolment you will be sent further details about the venue, student requirement list and facilities during the Art School.

Art School Tutors

The Art School has brought some well known names in the Australian art scene to Grafton. Workshops are often booked out many months before the event, which is held in April each year. Students come from every State and Territory of Australia, as well as internationally.
Our tutors are chosen for their experience, professionalism and ability to teach. They are dedicated to the exploration, encouragement, and creativity of art in a wide range of mediums. These skills ensure that we provide quality workshops with attention to detail and a well rounded experience for both students and tutors. The passion and expertise that these leading Australian and International tutors impart during the workshops allows all students to explore and expand their creative skills and develop their artistic practice.
