HERMAN PEKEL – LANDSCAPES IN OIL – The Importance of Tone PLEASE NOTE: WATER BASED OILS

ONE VACANCY AVAILABLE

This is an informative and hands-on workshop designed for artists with some experience, based on the solid fundamental approach championed by the impressionists and realists. The first lesson in painting is don’t ever start a painting until you know why you are doing it. Next is how you are going to do it. Think things through and you will backtrack and correct less often. There is much to be said about spontaneity as long as you plan for it!

Painting Open Flowers In Watercolour with Heidi Willis

has only two places remaining.

This intensive workshop will have its usual emphasis on improving your over all watercolour techniques: but the focus this time will be exploring the gorgeous topic of painting flowers in full bloom… and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Working with standard watercolour techniques of washes, the more complex process of glazing (or layers of wash) and the intricate art of dry brushing, this wonderful subject offers an ideal opportunity to look intimately at colour, form, texture, light, tone, structure and techniques so specific to botanical illustration.

ONLY ONE VACANCY AVAILABLE – SKETCHING AND WATERCOLOUR PAINTING with Malcolm Carver, Architect ARAIA RIBA AWI

Imagine this scenario: a feeling of despondency starting the week saying ‘I can’t draw to save my life’…..or ‘I wasn’t born with this skill’ … to the sense of achievement, fulfillment and exhilaration by the end of the week when you discover that you actually can. Most students just need encouragement. The workshop is open to all, both beginners and those with previous experience. Drawing of course, is fundamental to all painting skills like the skeletal frame is to the human body. Painting is drawing with a brush! Designed for all aspiring artists at whatever skill level, this course is fun … learning to see things and portray them in your own way.

2 Vacancies Have Opened in Creating With Acrylics – Chris Postle

The focus of this workshop will be mainly acrylic painting techniques using texture, design and colour with some mixed media (charcoal, pastel etc). You will be playing with backgrounds and also learning many different application techniques. Exciting colours and colour combinations will be used, taking reference from nature and life and applying our own little twists. We will get a bit more adventurous and explore the unknown, and also resurrect some old works. For those not so adventurous there is always plenty of detail to apply which is included into the process anyway, a bit of fine tuning.
