Come with me on a fabulous painting workshop in Grafton. This is an abstract painting class, although students’ work could be semi-realistic. We’ll study in-depth the contrast and tonality of the various textures and colours working in acrylics, using fluid acrylics and textural mediums to create both visual and actual textures. We’ll study the horizon lines in our photos and start building our paintings there. We will explore our emotional response to the beauty of the area and paint from that perspective. You will be encouraged to expand your favourite painting style! This workshop will allow experienced artists to see with new eyes and newbies will jump right in without intimidation. Does it sound easy? Well, sometimes the simple things are the most challenging.
This workshop is designed for acrylic painters of all levels and styles, 18 years and over.
Like many artists, Herman Pekel experimented for a time with abstract expressionism, but he is now well known for his oils and watercolours. Herman is an artist of energy and enthusiasm. He is able to see a painting in almost any subject matter and is capable of producing award-winning work in oil, watercolour or gouache. Environmental issues are a great concern to Herman and his love of the landscape reflects that in almost everything he paints. He produces paintings of strong design and powerful impact – every brush-stroke vibrant and visible. The scope of Herman’s work has ranged from dynamic industrial scenery to soft, draped interiors and broad Australian landscapes, which indicates the creative fearless nature of this unique artist.
