Calling all creatively minded people.

To join a workshop in April 2020.

The school will offer 19 – 5-day visual art school workshops all running concurrently, by tutors who have been selected to provide students with professional, expert tuition in their chosen form of the Visual Arts.

The workshops will be daily, informal sessions with handy tips, demonstrations, personal critiques, and explanations of new skills and techniques that will make the learning process much easier. Communication is high on the list of priorities of all tutors.

At Fay Boyd’s Fine Visual Art School observation, imagination, curiosity, reflection, composition, tone, and style are explored as well as the joy of sharing conversations and experiences with peers. The School attracts beginner artists as well as experienced artists. Class sizes are small which allows each student to receive individual attention.

Tutors are masters in their field and are chosen for their ability to teach, share and communicate their skills to others keen to learn more. During the workshops, locals see and offer friendship to tutors and their students often sketching the heritage buildings, the wide street scrapes lined by magnificent trees, (sorry no Jacarandas out in April).

The huge Clarence River that winds its way through the city, with Memorial Park fronting the river at the end of the main street, wonderful place to sit, paint or draw. Graftons famous bridge is known as the bendy bridge, this bridge has two bends within the structure, many tutors choose this area and Fig Tree Avenue, one block of Breimba Street, and 2020 will see these trees 100 years old.

More images of Grafton and surrounding areas are on the website view The Clarence Valley.

Vacancies Have Opened in Creating With Acrylics Workshop with Chris Postle

The focus of this workshop will be mainly acrylic painting techniques using texture, design, and colour with some mixed media (charcoal, pastel etc). You will be playing with backgrounds and also be learning many different application techniques. Exciting colours and colour combinations will be used, taking reference from nature and life and applying our own little twists. We will get a bit more adventurous and explore the unknown, and also resurrect some old works. For those not so adventurous there is always plenty of detail to apply which is included in the process anyway, a bit of fine-tuning.

MARGARET HASTIE

This workshop will introduce the fundamentals of botanical drawing and progress to painting in watercolour.  Initially, the focus will be on accuracy and observation in order to train the eye to see what is there, not what the mind thinks is there. We will begin by drawing botanical subjects in graphite pencil, concentrating on the controlled line, shading, tonal contrast and perspective (including foreshortening). After drawing simple plant structures we will gradually build up to more complicated subject matter. Botanical samples will be provided.

In answer to a common question we hear.

On our Terms & Conditions pages and on the Application Forms we state cut off dates for final payments and cancellations.

These dates are set so that we can then see whether a workshop has enough registrations to be viable to run and then to allow time to organise travel and accommodation arrangements for the tutors.

Quite a number of our workshops fill very quickly.

So…

Registrations will be accepted for all  workshops as long as there are vacancies available. If you are interested in a workshop that is booked out please contact Fay on 02 6643 1528 to be placed on a waiting list in the event of a student cancellation.

We hope this clears up any questions you may have on this subject and we look forward to seeing you in April 2017.
